2020-05-06 › Iran, Turkmenistan agree to reopen road, railway borders within health protocols
Tehran (ISNA) – Political negotiations between senior foreign ministry officials of Iran and Turkmenistan were held via video conference.
The meeting was chaired by Iran’s deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his Turkmen counterpart, Hajiev Vafa, during which the two sides discussed the latest situation in the mutual political, economic, and consulate cooperation as well as the regional and international developments.
Stressing on the importance of bilateral relations between two friendly and adjacent countries, the two sides underlined the need to preserve joint cooperation and take urgent measures in order to resolve obstacles and problems caused by coronavirus crisis.
They also stressed the need to reopen the road and railway borders within the health protocols, to cooperate for fighting the economic consequences of coronavirus pandemic, to resume special business and trade meetings between the economic players of the two countries through video conferences, to resume trade exchanges, and to resolve transit problems.
Regional issues including developments in Afghanistan and the security of the region were also discussed during the meeting.
